10 competitors played a betting game using serial numbers on $2 bills.

Asian cubers were given a fork & spoon, and others were given chopsticks, and had to solve a cube using only those utensils.

1:05 PM – Mystery Puzzle #14 – Trick Round Scrambles
Tyson Mao and Chris Krueger had to scramble an entire round of cubes (5 scrambles). They were given 5 cubes and told that the cubes must match the images on the scramble sheets.
Tyson’s scramble sheet, however, had an identity algorithm written instead of the correct algorithm.

Competitors were given a new, difficult puzzle based on Sudoku.

Shotaro Makisumi and Emerson Hermann were shown the two pieces of a linking puzzles, apart and together to form a ring. They had to figure out how to assemble them.

Competitors were given 14 identical (right isosceles triangular) plastic pieces and were asked to assemble them into a single solid shape.

Arthur Adams and Josh Nagel were given a solved and a scrambled Icon, and told to match the solved one to the scramble on the other.

Competitors each held onto a handle for a device that tests their reaction by flashing a light. The slowest person gets shocked.

Competitors had to open a specially packed Japanese drink.

Competitors were given a lined piece of paper, and asked to fold it into a paper airplane and throw it within three minutes. The planes were thrown into the audience and judged by distance.
First Round:

Competitors went up in pairs. One of them was handed a Rubik’s TouchCube, and the competitors had to finish a teamsolve.
